Recap NSC Round 1 Croix-en-Ternois (France)
The 2026 Northern Sidecar Cup season roared into life with an exciting opening round at Croix-en-Ternois on April 18–19. Teams and fans were treated to a fantastic weekend of close racing, changing conditions, and an electric atmosphere that set the tone for the season ahead.
From the first practice sessions, it was clear the competition would be fierce with 26 teams entering this first NSC round. Several crews showed strong pace early on, with lap times already pushing the limits of the tight and technical French circuit. First qualification delivered plenty of drama, as teams battled not only each other but also tricky track conditions that kept everyone on edge.
Race day did not disappoint. First the 2nd qualification in way better conditions than the day before, so lap times were pulverized. Both races for both groups were packed with action, featuring intense battles throughout the field. Overtakes, strategic riding, and perfect teamwork between drivers and passengers made for a thrilling spectacle. Consistency proved key, as the top crews managed to combine speed with precision to secure valuable early championship points.
The paddock atmosphere was just as impressive, with teams supporting each other and fans enjoying close access to the sidecar community. And of course the new tradition to do a nice get together to get to know each other, have a laugh and a drink and snack (this time with ‘Bitterballen’). Croix-en-Ternois once again proved to be the perfect venue to kick off the season.
As the first points are now on the board, the championship fight is already shaping up to be incredibly competitive. If this opening round is any indication, the 2026 Northern Sidecar Cup promises to deliver excitement at every turn.
